On 22nd ,23rd Oct. Siemens
A&D China held the 2nd Group Meeting in Beijing. In Beijing,
autumn is known as the "Harvest Season"and is declared
the best season by many. More than 250 employees from A&D's
13 branch offices and 9 Joint Venture across China attended,
right after the 50th National Day of P.R China and just before
the new millennium, it promised to a major A&D highlight
for all.
Siegfried Schmidt, A&D GM, delivered a powerful
speech about past successes and future strategies and goals
of A&D. The restructuring of sales organization, the corporate
account customer program and the "1000 OEM" program
were all mentioned.
Dieter Jeschke, A&D CM gave an overview
on the A&D business figures and financial goals. Compared
to FY97/98 the turnover increased by 23% in FY98/99. Most
of A&D JV's in China showed great improvements by increasing
their volume and EBIT simultaneously, overall by 30%.
Reinhold Schwulera, Director of SAG A&D
BD3, conveyed greetings on behalf of the Automation and Drives
Executive Broad. The Sales Manager of SAG A&D CD Horst
Platsch and the Commercial Manager of SAG A&D MC Harry
Volande of CD and MC worldwide and in China
There were three presentations outlining the
A&D situation regarding the way to customer orientation:
OEM business in A&D China, Distributor management and
the future of the A&D distributor network, Key-Account
management.
Albrecht Ahrens, SIAS CM informed everyone of
the new modern project tool "Balanced Scorecards was
explained as new sales systematic which not only takes financial
issues into account but also considers the main driving factors
in business.
The other main topics, "Localization"
and "best practices" were presented the following
day. Joint Ventures SEDL, SFAE, SIAS and SNC had the opportunity
to present their localization process in production, service,
engineering and development in China. We then invited Great
Young Int'l Industrial Co.Ltd., a Taiwan -based OEM, and our
distributor SENS M&E Co. Shenzhen to introduce their success
and cooperation with A&D.
During the meeting about 20 journalists were
invited from industrial newspapers and magazines to attend
a press conference. The management answered the questions
concerning the advantages of Siemens's solutions based on
Profibus, the development progress of E-commerce and A&D
strategy towards the improvement of automation in the Chinese
manufacturing industry.
After two action packed days, Automation
& Drives Group 2nd meeting came to a close in a relaxed
and harmonious atmosphere.
Together we can build a brighter and better future for A&D
in the new millennium.
